He Got Game

INT. QUIET CANDLELIT ROOM – NIGHT

JCJ sits in a simple wooden chair, a small table before him with a lit candle. Denzel Washington leans against a wall, thoughtful, while BKenyan Lewis paces slowly, hands clasped behind his back.

Denzel Washington: “So, JCJ… I watched He Got Game again. The pressure on that kid—it’s like he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. But you’re seeing something… different.”

JCJ: (softly, with intensity) “It’s bigger than basketball. It’s about every child. Every nation. Every soul. Think about Our Lady of All Nations—Mary. She cries for every child. Every child of every nation. She doesn’t choose. Germany, Ghana… she loves them all the same.”

BKenyan Lewis: (pauses, nods slowly) “That’s a powerful image… a mother crying for the world. But why does it feel so urgent?”

JCJ: “Because too many nations forget that love isn’t selective. She honors every nation equally, every child equally. And yet, we build walls, make judgments, decide who deserves mercy or attention. Mary doesn’t. She sees the heart of each child, and her tears are her reminder to us: care for every one.”

Denzel Washington: (leaning forward, voice low, almost reverent) “So, whether it’s a basketball court or the world stage, the lesson is the same. Nurture the potential. Protect it. Don’t judge it.”

JCJ: “Exactly. The kid in the movie—he’s just one child, one example—but Mary’s tears are for all children. And her love doesn’t stop at borders, politics, or culture. It’s universal.”

BKenyan Lewis: (softly, almost whispering) “And that… that’s what we need to see more of. Not in movies, not just in prayers, but in our lives. Every child, every nation… equal.”

JCJ: “Yes. And if we could all see the world through her eyes, maybe then the tears wouldn’t fall as often. Maybe then the world would learn to honor each soul, the same way Mary does.”

The three sit in silence. The candle flickers, shadows dancing on the walls. Outside, faint sounds of the city hum, but inside, there’s only stillness, reflection, and the weight of universal love.
